John is a writer and documentary photographer dealing primarily with conflict, displacement and their longterm repercussions. He is the author of Those Who Should Be Seized and has been published by Harper’s, National Geographic, Wired, GQ, Rolling Stone, Businessweek, The Atlantic and many others.
He is a Pulitzer Center grantee and the 2019 Daniel Pearl Investigative Journalism fellow. He won the 2017 Kurt Schork Memorial Award for his coverage of the Battle for Mosul and has been shortlisted for a number of others including the Bayeux-Calvados Awards for war correspondents.
He is HEFAT and RISC certified.
